Calculators aren't available at the test center and you cannot use a calculator.
Quick Facts
- Only the calculators on this page are accepted in the Math Test-Calculator part of the test.
- It is not permitted to utilize calculators or calculator during portions of the Reading, Writing and Language or Math Test -- No Calculator portions. You will need to put away the calculator away during these segments during the exam.
- You will be dismissed and your marks canceled if you use your calculator to give out details during the test or to remove questions or their answers from the testing room.
Calculator Smarts
- Bring your personal calculator. You aren't able to share one.
- Do not bring a new calculator. Bring one you're comfortable with. Prepare for the test with the same calculator you'll be using on test day.
- It's important to note that the Math Test includes some questions that you should not make use of a calculator however you're permitted to.
- It could be beneficial to do some scratch work in the exam book. Make notes before you use your calculator.
- Make sure that your calculator is in working order , and that your batteries are fresh. The test center will not supply extra calculators or batteries. If your calculator fails during testing and you're not able to find a replacement then you'll need to take the test without it.

You can use calculators only for the Subject Tests in Mathematics. Check out the guidelines and rules.
Acceptable Calculators
If you own any calculator with characters that are 1 inch or greater or if the calculator has a display with a raised top that might be visible to other test-takers, you will be seated according to the preference from the testing coordinator.
Only handheld devices powered by batteries is allowed for testing. There are no power cords allowed.
Calculators permitted during testing include:
- Most graphing calculators (see chart)
- All scientific calculators
- The four-function function calculator, in all its forms (not recommended)

Unacceptable Calculators
You are not allowed to make use of any of the following items as a calculator:
- Laptops, other computers mobile phones, tablets smartwatches, or wearable technology
- Models that connect to the Internet can be wirelessly connected, Bluetooth or cellular recording and playing of audio/video, camera, or other smartphone-like features.
- Models with a computer style (QWERTY) keypad pen input, pen, or stylus
- Models that use electric outlets, produce noise, or have a paper tape
- Furthermore, the use of hardware peripherals such stylus devices that are compatible with an approved calculator is not permitted. Some models that feature touchscreen capability aren't allowed (e.g., Casio ClassPad).
